Our Technological Response for Lone Worker Safety

Health and safety in the workplace are a top priority, especially for lone workers and those operating in complex, high-risk environments. Delivering immediate and effective responses during critical situations is essential to ensure every operator’s safety.

Within this framework, we are taking part in the HELMET project (Health & Emergency for Lone workers Management using secure Edge and blockchain in Transportation). The initiative aims to transform safety monitoring and management by integrating IoT devices, field sensors, and intelligent platforms—putting digital innovation at the service of injury prevention.

IoT Platforms, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain: The HELMET Architecture

As part of the HELMET project, LCS S.r.l. contributes to the development of an integrated tech architecture designed to handle real-time emergencies, focusing specifically on features powered by Artificial Intelligence algorithms and computer science analysis.

The system leverages indoor localization to rapidly detect critical events, such as “man down” occurrences, manual SOS signals, and missing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Furthermore, an IoT sensor network continuously monitors the work environment, gathering key parameters in real time. This data flows into an advanced software platform that uses Artificial Intelligence not only to detect anomalies, but to trigger response protocols immediately. By analyzing historical data and the specific context, the system learns over time, recognizing risk patterns and automatically suggesting the most effective corrective actions.

The Value of Cooperation: A Synergistic Partnership Co-funded by the European Union

The HELMET project was established under the Liguria RSO/ERDF Regional Programme 2021-2027 (Action 1.1.1) and is co-funded by the European Union to promote research and experimental development for businesses linked to innovation hubs. The strength of the project lies in the collaboration within a strategic Temporary Association of Companies (ATS), led by project coordinator Smart Track S.r.l..
